Thank you for your interest in Sky High
Amateur Radio Club. Here is some general information about the
club, our activities, and membership.
SHARC,
was founded to serve prospective and licensed radio amateurs
in Citrus County.
The purpose and objectives of SHARC, as
stated in the constitution and by laws are:
To promote Amateur Radio and advance it's
causes.
To provide a communications capability
and a source of technical support for the benefit of it's members
and the community.
To promote fraternalism and cooperation
among it's members.
To this end, SHARC and it's members
actively support and participate in ARES, RACES and other sanctioned
organizations. We provide communications support for many public
service events throughout the community.
The association is governed by an elected
President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and other
Board of Director members, each with specific responsibilities.
We hold meetings every month except in
July and August. These meetings are usually scheduled for the
fourth Saturday of each month. The meeting schedule is published
annually. Meetings usually have a guest speaker with a radio
or communications related topic. Occasionally the speaker will
be a club member with a particular area of expertise. The meeting
location is the Whispering Pines Recreational Center, Inverness,
Florida. .
The meeting starts at 11:00am and usually ends at 1:00pm. Visitors
and Guests are always welcome.
SHARC
sponsors a Field Day in June, an annual picnic, and a holiday
banquet.
The association's newsletter is published
monthly and distributed free to all members. It is full of club
and member news, as well as technical articles, and items of
interest to radio amateurs.
SHARC
sponsors classes for prospective licensees, and for those licensed
amateurs wishing to upgrade their licenses. We also conduct FCC
license exams. Please contact Joseph Calzaretta at (352) 382-0809
